Why are we rallying?

Too many children in New York State experience the hardships of poverty every day – but New York State has committed to taking action to change that.

New York’s Child Poverty Reduction Act commits the state to cutting its child poverty rate in half by 2032. That means more families will have the resources they need, our communities will be healthier, and more parents will be able to afford to raise their children in New York State.

We are rallying to support New York’s child poverty reduction efforts. These efforts must include meaningful, statewide investments and evidence-based policies that prioritize family economic security.

This work is urgent, the need is great, and our state’s leaders have the opportunity to invest in a better future for New York’s families, starting immediately.

Who can attend the rally?

Everyone!

Rally attendees will include parents, youth, educators, faith leaders, elected officials, pediatricians, nurses, child care providers, housing advocates, food security advocates, health care providers, social workers, labor unions, and others who believe New York can, and must, end child poverty.

We are a broad coalition of organizations and individuals who believe that New York’s children are our children, that the words child and poverty should never go together, and who are eagerly supporting the work of the Child Poverty Reduction Advisory Council.

We believe New York Can End Child Poverty, and we’re excited for a future where every child has what they need to thrive!
